We went to the beach a couple weeks ago.
It was a beautiful day. When you’re at the beach your natural inclination is to look out at the ocean: the crashing waves, the vastness of the water and the distant horizon. I don’t care who you are, the ocean is mesmerizing.
But if you turn around and look towards land you might catch a glimpse of equally riveting sights.
In between the beach and the rocky shore was a reef of rocks and sandstone.
The sandstone was full of these holes and depressions drilled in by the ocean at high tide.
When you touch them sand flakes off the surface, but you can tell that there’s solid rock underneath.
They were amazing.
And weirdly alien. Riveting.
