New house color

We finally finished painting the house. Here’s the before.

And here’s the after …

Remember my projected figuring-it-out-with-Photoshop after?

The real after.

Not bad, huh? I wasn’t too far off. (Thank goodness.)

We still have a couple more things before we’re done, but the main painting is done. Phew.

We’ve got new awnings and window boxes on order. I can’t wait to see those babies in a couple weeks; I think they’ll look great.

We’re still tiling the front steps. We had to take a break due to the rain. Drat the fickle weather! Hopefully it’ll be done in the next couple days. I’ll show you picks when we’re finished. I’m amazed at what a difference it is making in the aesthetic of the front entry.

We chose to go with natural slate, which is fairly inexpensive. It matches the coloring of the house and has good all-weather traction for foot traffic. There was a porcelain tile on there before, but it got slick as snot whenever it rained, which is a little dangerous for front steps. Not the best way to invite visitors into your home.

There, that’s two big items to check off the to-do list. Only 8,593 more items to go.
