Vung Tau is a seaside resort community about two hours south of Saigon. The close proximity makes Vung Tau a popular destination for urbanites looking to escape city smog and congestion. Vung Tau is filled with seaside resorts, condominiums and villas, cafes, restaurants and karaoke bars that cater to weekend living.
There are only two things that mar the lovely waterfront vistas: the oil rigs and container ships that dot the horizon a few miles offshore, and the copious amounts of garbage littering the beach. To the city’s credit they are working hard to clean the beaches and at nearly any time of day one can see beach cleaners out and about.
Regardless of these two blemishes walking the beaches in Vung Tau is a lovely way to the catch the rising or falling sun. Front beach, in particular, is fun to walk and people watch.
